Talkback at the college promotes learner views
and feedback and we want to hear from Course Reps at
the Centre Course Rep’s Meeting taking place on Wed 30th
November from 12.30pm to 1.30pm in S119/S120. We will be
looking for feedback on your new Canteen, Safeguarding,
Facilities and Security, ILT and Library and other centre resources
and services.
You will now be looking ahead and focusing on how to
access valuable work experience to develop your employability
skills. As well as your tutors and LDCs your Careers and
Employability Team is based at the entrance to the college and is
available to advise and link learners that meet the Career Ready
Standards of commitment, behaviour and progress to employers that
will offer these exciting opportunities.
Each and every one of you aspires to
success. To make that aspiration a reality and to give
yourself the best chance all you have to do is attend every class
on time, every day, ready to learn with a positive attitude.

LDCs
This week LDCs will be focusing
on drug and alcohol awareness. Learners will read about and discuss
some of the effects of drinking too much alcohol including
anti-social behaviour and health issues. They will also look at
illegal drugs and discuss the link between marijuana and mental
health problems.
Student Union
The SU anti-bullying campaign is now fully underway with posters up
all around the college displaying staff and students holding up
anti-bullying messages. The SU are now looking ahead to Christmas
by preparing for their annual Winter Celebration coming up next
month.
Stop Terrorists' and Extremists' Online Presence
You may have seen from the posters around the college and the
banner on our website that we are supporting a campaign in
conjunction with the police to tackle extremist material online.
Police depend on information from the public in their efforts to
keep us all safe and
they are asking anyone who has concerns about online content to
report it by clicking
the STOP Terrorists’ & Extremists’ online button on the college
website or Moodle.

Personal Statement Surgeries

We are pleased to announce that all bursary forms have now been
processed. Please check your college
email account as all correspondence about the
bursary will be sent to you there. If you need to provide
additional information to support your application or you have a
query about your bursary payment please go to The Learner Support Centre
on The Street and someone on The Welfare Desk will
be happy to help you.
All eligible learners have received a payment for the first month
but the next payment, and all payments after, will be
dependent on your attendance. You must have at least 90% attendance
to receive your next payment.
Sports enrichment: We went, we saw, we conquered!
Lambeth College sports enrichment participants have truly lived by
the famous “Vini, Vidi, Vici” phrase last Wednesday the 23rd
of November at Peter’s May Sports Centre, Waltham Forest, where the
college football team took part at the London Football Association
organised 7-a-side London colleges football tournament.
Lambeth College learners formed two teams and both dominated the
football pitches. Both teams have demonstrated outstanding team
skills, great tactics and very strong enthusiasm. Well done to the
college sports ambassadors, players and the College Sports Maker
for planning, organising and participating in the event. All
college learners are encouraged to join the colleges organised
football sessions, games and tournaments. More information is available

College UCAS Deadline
Please remember
that the internal deadline to pay and send your UCAS application
will be Friday 2nd Dec.
Meeting this deadline is very important as it will give your tutor
enough time to approve your application and write a reference. Only
after you have received a reference, your application can be sent
to UCAS.

Stage Business Inspiration Day – Business and ESOL
learners perform on stage at the Old Vic Theatre!
On Monday 21st November 8 learners from Lambeth College
attended the Old Vic Theatre for an Inspiration Day, aimed at
improving their confidence, team work and employability skills. The
learners were split into other groups with learners from 4 other
schools and Colleges. worked in small groups and performed on the
main stage! The presentations went really well and the learners did
us proud as a College! Following the presentations by the learners,
a BBC Radio One DJ, Gemmy Cairny delivered a session to the group
about her career journey and then answered questions about her role
in the BBC and as an entrepreneur, setting up her own fashion
business.
On speaking to the learners at the end of the day, they all agreed
that they enjoyed the day, and although they felt nervous on stage
were really pleased they had done it and achieved experience in
public speaking.
The group will continue to work on the project after Christmas so
watch this space for more news about Stage Business!
Social Care Taster Day at LSBU
On 24th November the Level 3 Health & Social
Learners visited London South Bank University for a ‘Social care
taster day’. The day started with ‘’If Jamie Oliver was a Social
Worker’’ session, followed by the following workshops: Social work
skills, Q & A session with a lecturer and a day in the life of
a Social Work student. Hopefully this experience inspired learners
to continue with their studies and work towards their career goal.
Coaching Session for the Lambeth College Nursery
Children
Level 3 Sport Coaching learners developed their career ready
standards by putting on a coaching session for the Lambeth College
Nursery children. The range of activities was enjoyed by all and the
Lambeth College learners were assessed against their coaching unit,
and how to adapt and develop coaching sessions.
Learner Elijah Robinson explained. ‘I joined Lambeth Sports to become
career ready. A number of coaching jobs now require experience
working with youngsters and other age groups, we are developing this
experience and getting graded for our assignment work."
