Smoothwall has been introduced to improve safeguarding by intelligently filtering content to help to protect learners from threats such as radicalisation, online grooming and self-harming websites.  It is the market leading web filter in UK education and is used by 19% of all FE colleges. The Smoothwall organisation works in partnership with the Internet Watch Foundation and the Anti-Bullying Alliance, they also implement the CAIC list of domains and URLs, and the police addressed list of unlawful terrorist content, produced on behalf of the Home Office.

The product has been tested but if you come upon a blocked site that you believe shouldn’t be blocked speak to you tutor about this and they can ask for the site to be unblocked.
