LDCs

In advance of the debating event, Banter SW4, happening in The Hub on Wednesday 14th, LDC sessions will be focusing on debating skills this week. Learners will discuss their opinions on some controversial topics as well as looking at how to form a sound argument to back up their views. They will look at the difference between arguing and making arguments for or against a topic and have a go at debating in their classes.

Student Union

This week the Student Union are finishing up preparations for their Christmas celebration, which will coincide with the debate event, Banter SW4. There will be a chance to make a college wish and have your photo taken with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, as well as Christmas music, sweets and cakes. As it is the time of year to think of those less fortunate than ourselves, they will be raising money for Ace of Clubs, a local homelessness charity.

Sports Enrichment: Basketball

On Wednesday 30th November, Lambeth College Basketball Team had their second league game organised by the London Basketball Association. This was a second consecutive thrilling win to Lambeth College. The game took place at Lambeth Academy Sports Hall and it was packed by Lambeth College supporters – both staff and learners who have had an amazing time and greatly enjoined the game: Lambeth College vs Stanmore College. The final score was 68 to 26 to Lambeth College. The players said they really enjoyed playing the game especially with the support from the college and they felt that the atmosphere was very positive and inspiring. Next Basketball League game will take place on the 9th of December at Acland Burghley School and all the participants and spectators are welcome to join the match.

Interview Day Experience - Monday 12th December

Learner Development Coaches (LDC) have partnered up with Career Development & Progression Team to deliver the Interview Day Experience.

The aim of the event is to give learners an opportunity to take part in a realistic experience of a university or a job interview. Students will be able to practice speaking about their strengths and weaknesses, their up-to-date experience as well as interests and hobbies.

For the interviewing panel we have invited a number of external guests from various professional sectors and universities to make the experience as realistic as possible. The interviews will take place at the Clapham Centre on Monday 12th December 2016, starting at 10am. If you are interested in practising your interviewing skills please contact your LDC.
